ENTRY OPTIONS

Four entry routes to check

01

Hainan 30-day visa-free entry

The National Immigration Administration states that ordinary passport holders from 59 countries may stay in Hainan for up to 30 days for listed short-term purposes that explicitly include medical treatment. Eligible travelers must stay within Hainan and meet current entry requirements.

02

240-hour visa-free transit

The policy currently covers 55 nationalities, 65 designated ports and permitted areas in 24 provincial-level regions. Travelers need a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region; a simple return trip to China does not meet the transit requirement.

03

General visa-free entry

Check nationality, passport type, permitted purpose and policy validity. Medical treatment is not automatically a permitted purpose under every general visa-free policy, so confirm with the responsible embassy, consulate or visa center before booking.

04

S2 private-affairs visa

Chinese Visa Application Service Center guidance categorizes short-term medical treatment under the S2 route. Documents vary by jurisdiction and may include hospital acceptance or invitation material and financial-support evidence. The consular authority makes the final decision.
